Welcome to Sisters Animal Sanctuary
About Us:
Sisters Animal Sanctuary is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit
organization, EIN 59-3785632.
We
are two sisters who can't live with the fact that we are killing
millions of innocent cats and dogs in U.S. animal shelters every
year. We want to do our part in stopping these heartbreaking and
unnecessary killings. But we need your help too. We have a passion for animals and are
committed to saving as many as we can given the resources we
receive through donations and personal funds. It all started in
2001 with one, young black cat we saw living near a freeway in
Elk Grove, California, where we live. Her name is Freeway and
she was and is totally feral. She is now a beautiful adult
feline with bright eyes and a shiny black coat. We believe in
trap/neuter/return (T/N/R) and she is currently living a safe
distance from the interstate and is well taken care of.
Casey, Pumpkin, Calvin, Everett and Clem (shown above) are
just a few of the faces at our sanctuary. They are all special
in their own way and each one has
a story. Casey was born to
feral parents and still is somewhat leery of most two-legged
beings. Pumpkin is a friendly cat that was dumped at one of our
feral sites and is happy to be inside and safe. She was not
feral, just not loved. Everett was a kitten when he was found
injured and being harassed by an older unneutered male by a
person who could not afford to take care of him. He is loving
and sweet. Clem is an amazing fellow. Born to feral parents
but doesn’t know it as he is very loving and sweet. We found
Calvin wandering down a back road, on a very hot day exhibiting
signs of heat exhaustion. He was not neutered and was missing
an eye. He is now in a loving home on several acres with
five
other dogs. There are so many more stories to tell about the
abused, abandoned and unloved animals we have rescued and will
continue to rescue as long as we are able.
To continue our work, we need your help; a small donation
makes a world of difference in an animal’s life and we are
committed to spending your dollars in the best interest of the
animals. Please click on the Donations icon if you are

How We Do Things:
Once an animal is in our possession, he/she is immediately
taken to the vet for a comprehensive examination. First, they
are tested for FELV and FIV. If they are in good health they
are vaccinated, given a tip-to-tail physical, treated for fleas
and worms, microchipped, spay/neutered if they are of the
appropriate age and of course given lots of love along the way.
Once they are ready for adoption, they are placed on
Petfinder.com with a picture and a write-up about their
personality. Interested parents must complete an extensive
application and agree to a home visit so we can be sure the
animal will live in a protected and loving environment. Once
that has been determined, we personally deliver the animals to
their new home and provide guidance and direction to the new
parents regarding their new pet’s health care. We follow up
every two weeks for the first month to see how things are progressing. We always
tell our new parents that if for any reason they cannot keep the
animal, regardless of their age, regardless of the
circumstances, we will take the animal back and find another
loving home for them or let them live out their life at the
sanctuary.
Goals:
To build a no-kill permanent life sanctuary on
twenty acres we
currently own and have reserved for the sanctuary. To continue
our involvement helping the ferals via T/N/R and continue our
involvement in the community when concerned and caring citizens
reach out to us.
Donations:
Donations are critical to our ability to
continue helping animals. If you can spare even $1.00 it will
be spent solely for the purpose of taking care of animals and
making their lives better. Please click on the Donation icon to
